These are the best pencils we've ever used. They don't break during coloring or sharpening like other thinner pencils often do. The brilliant colors flow onto the paper solidly. We use them for main lesson book work and also art projects. The price is rather high, however, they do not often need to be replaced - we're still using our six-piece set that we've had for three years.

These are very nice, long-lasting pencils. That being said, I'd strongly advise anyone considering purchasing them to just go ahead and just get the longer pencils. The shorter ones just don't last long enough before they are too hard to hold comfortably, but the longer ones last quite awhile. These pencils are very nice, not at all like the cheap kind you might find at the store. They lay down color nicely, and don't take too much pressure to write or draw with.

I used these pencils last week for the first time in my preschool classroom and the children loved them. The colors are vivid and they don't break easily when sharpened. After being frustrated with the poor quality of other colored pencils on the market I will certainly buy the Lyra pencils again.

Small set goes nicely in a backpack for nature hikes. Large set is perfect for at the table. Other colored pencils don't have the color brightness and break much more easily. We are very pleased with them.

These are the best quality coloring pencils for both adults and children. We've bought over 6 sets of these, kept 2 for the kids, replenishing with single pencils from the local Waldorf School's shop. The rest we've given away to other kids, and the recipients' parents tell us how much they like them. The triangle, thick barrel makes it easier for young children to maintain the proper tripod grip for using pencils. The colors are rich, last long. They are also erasable if the kid changes her mind or makes a mistake. Magic Cabin used to have the least expensive price for the bigger sets in tins, but now their price matches most other websites.

I bought a set of these for my kids and was truly impressed with the quality of these pencils and the quality of the expression of color, even in little hands. The colors are creamy, not dry and grainy like so many other brands. The chunky shape is so much easier for kids and adults to grip, and they last a REALLY long time! When our first set finally started getting too short to sharpen anymore (which took months) I picked up another popular brand of colored pencils because it was convenient, but what a headache. The tips break off under very little pressure, when I sharpen them the tips break in the sharpener so you lose about an inch every time you have to sharpen them, if you drop them the tips break off, and the color quality is surprisingly poor. With the Lyra pencils, even a light touch creates a solid, beautiful line. The other brand, though popular, is a terrible value even at a much lower price, and the frustration of the cheaper brand doesn't justify paying less. I'll never stray from Lyra again. Also I received a sample of #2 pencils made by Lyra and they are ALSO far superior to any other #2 pencil. I'm a bit of a pencil nut because I use them daily in my writing/illustrating work and with my children. I will only buy Lyra pencils for my kids and for myself as long as they are available. You will not be disappointed. I have just ordered a set of Lyra Aquarelle Pencils, which have water soluble tips (a blendable watercolor pencil) because I have been so impressed with the quality of Lyra's products. Our two year old uses them! He loves all the colors and they actually helped in learning them (even a few that were not part of Roy G Biv)! The vibrant shades make drawing more enjoyable. I have been caught coloring and sketching! Shading and blending are a few steps higher in the art world but we are doing it!

These pencils are fantastic and worth every penny. The leads never break. The colors are bright. The size perfect for children's hands. These pencils live in my backpack and come out on nature walks, museum trips and long waits at the doctors. These will be the last color pencil/marker/crayon you need to buy for your child.
