Potholder Loom

I had this sent to my five-year old granddaughter and she called me up to say how much she loves it. My son says all she wants to do now is make pot-holders. This gives her a way to make something of real value that she can give as gifts, and it allows her to put colors together any way she wants to. Lots of bang for the buck with this one!

Bought as a Christmas gift for our granddaughter. She loves it! After being shown how to use and the logic involved, she took to it like a duck to water. Metal frame far superior to today's cheap plastic versions. Should last for years to come. This item was a mainstay in the camps I went to as a child and later as a councilor.

I bought this loom and loops for my 8 year old daughter because I remembered using a similar loom as a young girl. She was very excited to start but ran into lots of trouble as the loom was strung. The loops are too wide and make it cumbersome to fill all the pegs. They also are roughly cut and fray and snag. The loops are of a strangely tough material that doesn't stretch well. As she tried to finish off her first potholder, the ends would come off the pegs ahead of the point you were working on making it very frustrating. In short, the loom frame is fine, the loops are worthless. I am very disappointed I purchased the extra bag of loops.

My son (9 years old) received this as a Christmas gift. He is very "artsy" and this was great for his creative side b/c he was able to work with design/patterns, etc. It is well made and easy to work with; he can complete a potholder in approx. 2 hours. I purchased the extra bag of loops and I'm very glad I did (we will be purchasing more). All of my children (ages 6-13) have made a design on the loom--it was a hit.The children will sell the potholders at a community fundraiser.

The loom is sturdy and won't bend like the plastic ones.The loops are the most vibrant colors and are of consistent size.This set is easy to work with, and the potholders my daughter has made have delighted many. Oh, and they hold up over time.I have bought many bags of extra cotton loops.
