We have two of these swords and they are much sturdier than you would think. Cheapo foam swords usually last a day or two. These have been going strong for over a year of agressive play. Also, although the silk does get a bit stained over time, it is super soft on the face/eyes that eventually get gouged. Our other sturdy foam sword is really scratchy and ouchy.

I brought this for my younger children, ages 2 and 4, for Christmas. They both enjoy playing dress up. Today I found all the decorative jewels off the crown. Maybe my children are rougher on things, but the jewels were just glued on and came off easily.

these silk swords are beautiful, but too expensive. more thought should have been put into keeping it together when used as a sword--esp. the handle's little tassle. i would've used another piece of silk to wrap the handle, otherwise has worked great for my boys big(6), small (2) and very small (10mo)--when accidently hit.

Jewels fell off!
