Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

I bought the original version of this about 9 years ago for my first grandaughter...now all 7 of them play with it and love it. It stirs their imagination just the way one would want it to. It is a castle, a tree house, a pirate ship, a fort....all kinds of dolls and creatures live there. we make "additions" and our own furniture. it is the best money I ever spent for a toy.

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

This dollhouse treehouse does have great play value. My 6 yr old daughter loves it and it definitely sparks her creativity and imagination.

HOWEVER, what the others have said is true: The assembly instructions are barely sufficient. Many parts arrived broken. I was never able to figure out how some of the accessories fit into it.

I know we could have exchanged it, but it really wasn't worth the trouble. I am reasonably handy and was able to fix all broken bits with some wood glue and some extra dowel pins I had. My daughter enjoyed helping figure out how to assemble it and deciding what went where. She's also accessorized it herself with some green cloth and extra brass cabinet knobs we had around the house.

So if you're a bit handy with wood and look as this more as a crafts project than a finished product, then it's a 5 star toy. If that doesn't describe you then be aware that this product may not be appropriate and you'll find it frustrating.

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

This was a big buy for my family, and by that I mean we saved up and money to purchase it as the "special" gift for my two year old. It took me about an hour plus to build it. Notice I did not say assemble, as you should prepare to actually build this fort. Yes, there is a certain DIY pride one cane take in accomplishing putting this beast together, but half way through it did occur to me that a saw, some bolts and an outing to the park would have been cheaper and a more authentic DIY project. Most frustrating was that no matter how I designed the layout, several pieces did not fit into any of the spaces, including the stairs and a lovely bench. In addition, there are so many holes over each space that end up being not used one wonders if they sent all the parts.... So, as the parent with an eye for how things look, I think I am disappointed but optimistic that I can find some moss as cover up a lot of the defects as they did at the photo shoot for this product.
Of course, my daughter will love this. But she would have loved the cheaper version for $45 just as much. Magic Cabin, can't you look into this product? Seems like a lot of parents have the same issues....

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

Very sweet, but the assembly took my husband and I hours (and we are very used to doing that sort of thing). The instructions are absolutely impossible to see - miniscule black and white photos, and no matter which way we put it together it was impossible to put all the parts on properly (the bridge just won't fit anywhere on our fort). We also seem to be missing some of the pegs and possibly some of the posts - I'm not sure how strong it is going to be and whether it will stand up to my son playing with it for long. Such a shame as the product itself is so cute, but for the money it costs I would expect it to assemble correctly. It seems that the instructions are a problem for most people, but nothing has been done to fix this.

Bought this after seeing a friend's and the way her children used it for so many types of play. On a daily basis, my children find different toys to use, ways to make houses/beds for toys, hang fabric over it, and can use it 100 different ways. Very durable and so lovely to look at instead of plastic toys or dollhouses.

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

Just received the tree fort recently. I read all the reviews before buying and now here is my contribution!
First off, I bought the whole package: tree fort, the furniture sets, animals, and woodland friends, as well as a set of fairy family dollhouse dolls, and a 36-piece pioneer miniature dollhouse accessory set. I decided it was better to splurge for a complete package than have a incomplete toy.
I couldn't decide which dolls to get so I got both the woodland friends set as well as the fairy family dollhouse dolls, and now that I have seen them I prefer the fairy family overall, though they are more expensive. However I may keep looking around for other options or try making my own, since cute faces are so important to me and the dolls don't have the attention to detail in the faces that I would ideally like to see. It is good to have dolls with bendable bodies for this tree fort though (which both those sets have), to be able to sit in the swing, hang onto things, or sit in the chairs etc. The woodland friends have bendable bodies but their clothes are a little stiff, and they don't stand, while the fairy family does. The fairy family is a little oversized but they still work (see my note on how I set it up below).

If someone would be upset by a piece of split wood, chipped bark or variable product from the pictures they might do better to look elsewhere than this tree fort. My package had all of these things. But since the pieces are organic it actually didn't matter. The split was in a stair piece which you actually don't notice. The bark was off a furniture piece you don't notice either. The two bigger beds had come unglued (by the way they are different than the photo now, they are a plank with a circular headboard and footboard), but since they were too small for the dolls anyway, I use these pieces for other things (stepping stones, a plank bridge etc.). Since they are organic shapes, there is so much flexibility for their use.
The directions are black and white photocopied photos which are too tiny to see properly and, I agree, are not very helpful. But they give an orientation to start off with. Right away I noticed that some of my preassembled sections were assemble backwards to those shown in the pictures, but it didn't matter. Basically they are components that can be assembled many different ways, which I have come to believe is one of the absolute strengths of this toy.
To get the most out of this be sure to leave time for assembly. Do not plan to do this late Christmas eve when exhausted. But it is fun assembly, not frustrating. A bit like a functional design question. I tried about six different ways before settling on an optimal set-up. My prefect set-up will need an extra drilled hole or two for the bolts, but that is no problem for us.
The preassembled pieces are basically to be stacked on top of eachother. But they do not have to be directly stacked on top of eachother, they can extend off to one side, jutt out, etc. One preassembled stack is too small to accommodate the fairy family standing, but was great for a side bower/seat/shelf next to the living area.
I got the pioneer accessories which were great for the little bowls, apples, baskets etc, although we do not need all the things in the set at all. Some of the small things (e.g. like the little bowls and apples) might be a challenge for younger hands, but do add to charm.

Even though the fairy family are bigger, they can sit at the chairs etc. They do not fit properly in the beds, and there are not enough beds for a family of five anyway, so you could skip this if you want and use soft wool or material for the figures to sleep on. The wooden animals could easily be replaced with any little toy animals you can find at home/near you. I do think it is important one way or another though to have furniture/ objects to set up in the fort. So if you don't get the complete set, have a plan for what you will use instead.
I took another reviewer's advice and bought greenery and silk flowers to decorate the fort, and this definitely adds to it (no greenery comes with it). It's not expensive to do, and I recommend it.
From examining the pictures I can see the tree fort has changed over time in terms of exact product, but the concept is the same.
Another note: I ordered this from Magic Cabin and then saw one in a local store. The one in the store had a piece that wobbled, and I could see that maybe there is variety in terms of quality control. However the one I got assembled solidly.
Overall I am pleased with this toy. It appeals to all (my husband likes it, which says something) and is winning in the charm of the wood in organic shapes. Although a substantial outlay of money, I think it will last a long time and get extended use. I really like that it is wood and not plastic, rounded and not linear. The ability to change and rebuild the fort in different configurations is really fun and will be great for teaching children about building and spaces and design. A multi-use toy for sure.
        Hope this review helps you!

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

Both my daughter and I absolutely love this toy! She uses it with her polly pockets, and any other little doll that comes around. The instructions are useless, but my nine-year-old daughter figured out how to put it together by herself, and all I had to do was tighten the screws. The beauty of this toy is that it can be construction many ways, and changed as she feels the need. I added some simple decorations to make it look more tree-like, including moss covered fake rocks and little fake flowers and reindeer moss. The bushes are on little pegs that fit right into the extra holes, and can be moved when we want to puts something else in an empty space. The way the staircase came was not very stair-like, just a bunch of pieces of wood on a stick, so I took it apart and glued it into a curvy staircase, and added some landscaping. This toy even inspired my daughter to ask for a garden for the dolls, which I gladly created for her. I have included some pictures to help inspire!

Our daughter asked for the tree fort for Christmas and has really enjoyed it. It was a little difficult at first to set up due to poor instructions (and the fact that it was 1:00 am Christmas morning) but after examining the parts it's really not too bad to assemble. You can assemble it different ways, and if you use your imagination and not try to get it exactly like the picture it's quite easy. We were missing the animals with our order and Magic Cabin shipped it to us [...]...really great customer service! The quality of this product is very good and it should last for years. Would reccomend for sure and will order from Magic Cabin again.

This tree fort was basically well made and my grandchildren like it. I was disappointed, however, that some of the parts will need to be re-glued or have different holes drilled. For this price, I would have expected better quality control. It is not worth the expense to send it back. I will fix it myself. These errors have not prevented my grandchildren from enjoying imaginative play with this tree house.

This tree fort is so neat! I love that it is made from real tree trunks and that it can be put together multiple ways. My kids have loved playing with it. It's funny but it also appeals to adults. I have had multiple adults/parents comment that they would love to play with it too. That makes for a great imaginative parent/child play time. I would definitely recommend this product.

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

The sad part about this toy was that it was a santa gift that when opened to assemble the day before christmas - it was broken, the main wood piece split right down the middle. My husband luckily knows wood and glued it together so it went under the tree. The bad part is because we had put it all together, we didn't think we could exchange it or return it.

The design idea is wonderful, but in my opinion, due to the quality, it is overpriced.

The kids however love this toy. My other complaint is that it is HUGE- again, if my kids were writing this review there likely would be only positive comments and that's why I gave it 4 stars. It is pretty awesome stuff once assembled. They have played with it for HOURS.

Did not come with good instructions at all. We made it work and the kids are enjoying it. Improvement needs to be made on assembly directions

Yes, this is an adorable and engaging item once assembled. This was a Christmas gift for my seven-year old daughter. She was amazed by this unique toy and she absolutely loves it! Her reaction was priceless. However, the instructions are a nightmare. You will only be able to understand them if you can dicipher the low quality, black and white, photocopied pictures...there are no words, only item numbers that don't make sense. Also, I had to order this item twice. The first shipment had [...] misassembled pieces. The second only had one misassembled piece - the base. At that point I was trying to follow the crummy directions with the main piece assembled backwards...so nothing else fit properly. The Magic Cabin staff were fantastic when handling my exchange. They have excellent customer service. If you can survive the assembly, you will be pleased with your purchase!

My daughter loves this! She like to rebuild the tree house into new configurations. This is easy for my 8 year old. We also bought the furniture with the house. Most of the furniture was broken and had to be glued. Also there isn't enough pieces to furnish things properly. My daughter uses pieces from another doll house and has collected pebbles to make more furniture.

I would very much like to meet the person who can assemble this product in 30 minutes. It took me hours and I have had a lot of "assembly" experience.

Comments about MagicCabin The Tree Fort Kit:

We adore this thing--used as a "fairy house" in my home. I bought it when my eldest daughter was 3. She's 8 now, and she and her 3-year old sister play with it daily. Over the course of several moves and a very destructive toddler, I think one piece of wood has split--but even that's not an issue, as we wrapped it with hemp twine and it simply adds to the overall visual aesthetic! I agree that the instructions are fairly useless. However, those who are complaining about that are missing the point that this toy is an open-ended building concept. There is no one-right-way to put it together. We have constructed it multiple ways, multiple times, and that just adds to its interest. Instead of the woodland family, I bought the Kathe Kruse Fairy Family Collection, and we have the furniture set as well. Recently, I went to the local craft store and bought a pack of green wool roving for "leaves"; several different types of ribbons; and some silk flowers to "spruce up" the fairy home, and it was a total hit. I initially cringed at the purchase price of this toy, but it's incredibly worth it in terms of play value, beauty, and inspiring creativity.
